The 2016 Flanagan Cabernet has a compelling nose with a graphite minerality intertwined with orange blossom and cedar notes. The palate has a ripe red currant and black currant, red plum, some savory herbal notes, and lots of structure. The tannins are fine grained and grippy in this young Cabernet. The
acidity provides beautiful delineation and tension in the mouth.
Vineyard Notes
The 2016 vintage provided a modest crop of excellent fruit. A vintage characterized by a cooler growing season than 2015, the wines made in 2016 are, in general, more focused. The cooler temperatures in 2016 meant grapes tended to ripen at lower Brix levels and lower pHs than they did in 2015. Farming at the highest level, picking for balance, and honest winemaking with minimal intervention all contribute to what we believe to be a top Cabernet Sauvignon wine made in Sonoma County.
Winemaker Notes
We strive to create wines with complexity and balance that reflect their sites and the vintage. We do this by starting with great fruit from the best vineyards in Sonoma County and by allowing each site and each vintage to express itself.
